Get a real Honda tech to look at the van. You would be surprised at what is really wrong. And they will be able to tell you what it really needs.

Fix the van 1st. That is a priority. You can't keep making payments on a vehicle which doesn't work.

Why would I get a Honda tech to look at a Toyota Sienna? LOL No worries, I know what you meant. Well, between yesterday and today the battery grew legs and walked off. So I will need a battery. However, the friend lied about the keys as they worked perfectly when the tow driver arrived, and used a battery boost pack to start it up. So I don't need to have a locksmith come out and make one. Of course, my tools, first aid kit, disabled placard and battery booster are gone. And it is full of trash and clothes. But the main thing is that it runs, and it is back in my assigned stall. The fuse block cover under the hood is missing as is the coil pack cover, but it runs fine with out them.

Happy Monday Nor Cal. Well it is deja vu all over again. Ordered a video card from Newegg.com, and it was supposed to be delivered yesterday "by the end of the day". At 9:03pm I checked the tracking number, and it still was not showing "out for delivery" so I went to bed. This morning, I checked the tracking number, and it tells me the package was delivered yesterday at 6:32pm. And when I click "proof of delivery" I am told it was left at the front door. No photo just a sentence telling me it was left at the front door. So now I am sitting on hold for ovr 40 minutes waiting for a Newegg CSR to answer.

Drove the van today a grand total of 8 miles before the temperature gauge made a beeline to the H. Pulled over, and called Geico's Roadside assistance. Got the same tow driver as last Friday. I don't know if it was low on water, or the "relay" that my ex friend says it needs. Will do some more checking tomorrow if it doesn't rain again.

Jim,
you’re making me jealous. I walked to the other room and telecommuted for 8 hours and then assembled our new bed. We are “finally adults” and have upgraded from the college apartment furniture. Thank goodness for Craig’s List and Facebook Market place so we did not spend a fortune.

We are “finally adults”
I'm back in kindergarten. Made red beans and rice. Trying to sprout and grow a few of the beans. Tossed a few in the dirt outside. Put 1 into a gallon milk jug. I figure that the plastic container is like a miniature greenhouse which will warm under the sun and retain heat and moisture. The plant can grow out through the spout. And a cubic gallon (is that even a real measurement?) of dirt should be enough for 1 bean plant's root ball.

I know that you guys out in the country, with your acres of land, and livestock: are probably laughing at the guy in the city trying to farm 1 red bean in a milk jug on the 13th floor balcony. But Jack had 1 bean, and it grew into a magic bean stalk.

If this works, I will re-enroll in kindergarten, just like Billy Madison.

Jim, that mystery relay could be the electric fan relay. Maybe the fan isn't turning on, and that's why your van heated up.

That is what I am thinking. I will try to find it today. I did not hear the fan turning on yesterday when I drove it.

Fifty150,

We all need to keep learning and growing. the Mrs is working on her small garden today and I am looking forward to the harvest. In my ramblings I came across these Aero Garden and considered them, but we are still paying off the Medical field from my last adventure. Now if I could do something about the feral cats in the neighborhood, that would help.

Without running the numbers, I can already "feel" that it is a hobby. Not cost efficient. I can never grow enough produce in the city to save any money. Certainly can't grow enough food to feed myself without shopping.

Can you imagine what it would cost? Best way to grow is with land, in the right climate. Now to engineer and build an apartment size grow system with grow lights.....I would have to grow opium poppies or coca leaf in order for it to break even. Or marijuana, since it would require less processing after harvest. I don't see myself spending $XXXX to save $50 in produce.

A distraction at best while we shelter in place. Interesting to see some of that stuff growing from garbage I would have thrown away. It really is neat to watch something grow out of a milk jug.

Made spaghetti sauce today. About $10 in produce. Tomato, basil, garlic, onion, carrot, celery, bell pepper....Pasta is another dollar. After I factor in that fresh cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil, Himalayan pink salt, fresh peppercorn..... an arm and a leg, plus labor.... I might as well call it $50. I might as well eat out.

Your pasta looked pretty good. There was a piece in the NYT today about how to make "one pot pasta". Basically cook all the meat / vegetable / spices in a large skillet, then add the pasta and water and serve. Looked like a great way to make a mid-week meal (or any time for that matter).

Saw the same article. Tricky part is not using too much water.

I will probably stick to making noodles separate.
