There may be hiccups in the food supply chain. Just read a story about chickens being destroyed because the processing plant is closed. Same is probably happening to other food items as processing plants and warehouses shut down. We are sure to see ripples in the retail prices.
That is almost tragic. Costco has some of the best beef selections anywhere. I kind of got spoiled with some of their rib eye steaks a while back. Now, almost nothing else will do.
This pandemic will ripple and we will feel it even after people are healthy. The impact on us being able to eat could not have been imagined. And the crushing blow it dealt to oil......My gas prices are lower.
The truck I see all over town is Yosemite. They probably supply all the neighborhood mom & pop Latino & Asian markets. Anybody know anything about them?
There are poultry shops and butchers around here who get special breed, free range, organic, chicken, eggs, and duck from Petaluma and surrounding Sonoma ranches. Things like Silky Chicken and Peking Duck. The big suppliers like Tyson, Foster Farms, and Cargill don't sell to small stores. I am sure that whatever you find, the price will be much higher. As a kid, I recall being able to shoot duck locally. I may start wild harvesting my own protein. There's a lot of wild game for anyone willing to commit a felony.

The pandemic was not the crushing blow to oil. The crushing blow was Saudi Arabia and Russia getting into a pissing match about production vs prices as demand was slacking. I guess the pandemic made it worse, so maybe it's a contributing cause.
What I've sort of wondered is, what prevents the oil companies from turning their pumps around and pumping the surplus oil into tapped-out wells? That would be an enormous amount of storage. Buy low, sell high.
On that note, I just checked my bank balance online, and the stimulus check was there. Now, if the Police would hurry up and give me my gun back, I can register for the CCW classes. I am thinking maybe sell the gun and buy something smaller like the Smith and Wesson MP 2.0 in 9mm. Much easier to conceal. I just don't know if the gun shop wants another SD9VE. Last time I tried to sell it, I was told it was the most common gun they had, and weren't buying. Maybe that has changed. Of course if they don't give me much in the way of a trade in, I'll just keep it and take the CCW course with it and live with the bigger size.
