I have a 1992 f150 e40d. I've had it for several years. Getting ready for a lengthy road Trip. I suspect the tran filter dropped. What are the symptom of this condition. I go from park to reverse and and it hesitates for a few second before It pressurized, and the same from reverse to drive. Is this normal. I don't remember I haven't thought about it till, I started prepping for up coming trip. It runs and shift fine. Is it normal for The e4od. Thanks
I have read where a dropped filter can cause issues like you describe. If you have recently changed fluid and filter that is a good possibility. A loose fit on the filter seems fairly common. I have read where the Wix and Motorcraft fit snug. Also the old oring could still be in there causing a loose fit. Regardless, I would drop that pan before taking a long trip. You can run diagnostic codes and/or pull the PCM lastly to check capacitor conditions. Sandy
I suppose that could have happened but I doubt it. Have you checked the fluid level?
Yes that was the first thing you I did, it's not a real big deal. I just don't remember. If that works a normal for the E40d. At my age the memory is the first thing to go. Yes I don't want to be 1k away from home and have issue. Thanks for your response.
