FIRST off if you are only driving 2 miles to work,,, WALK, ride a bike or something if possible.. in 2 miles unless you live in florida, texas or SW US the engine is not coming up to temp which is WORSE for a diesel (and for that matter gas) engine than the water pump leak..

I change out mine couple years ago with the real IH water pump,, it a honking monster hunk of cast iron. Install the filter, repipe the bottom hose.. and if you search this thread there are several folks that did the swap and took picture of it. Riff Raff make a custom hose for teh bottom but its pricy.. I was able to find a sub hose and you have to do a bit of retrofitting to get it all to work. if you have the time of another way to get to work get the IH OEM pumps vs the ford OEM pmp..

Do I wait for a Motorcraft pump or just go get one from NAPA? I know theres a significant price difference. And I also know these trucks like OEM parts. I only have to drive 2 miles to work so it's not the end of the world if it's just going to make noise for now.

If you DO NOT flush the cooling system can you add a premixed coolant to the system after you change the water pump? It currently has a NAPA heavy duty coolant in it but I have a lot of Deere CoolGard 2 on hand. The deere stuff can be added to any "color" coolant except ELC. The system was flushed two years ago when I did the oil cooler seals.

If you gave allot of DEERE coolant, why not use it. Why chance the mix....as for longevity if a woman, I think an external/incorporated coolant filter us the key
