Wheel Spacers

So I feel comfortable with high quality spacers for my Excursion. I need to know are all 4 hub centric? Common sense say they should be, however one company I’m looking at and even the tire shop which is a national chain states rear are not. Does anyone know for SURE?

Do wheel spacers put extra strain on the wheel bearings in an Ex? I know that Corvette guys don't use them for the track because of that reason.

Yes and no.........depends.
Using the 2" spacers to allow late model SD wheels to be used on our wagons is just like moving the wheel mounting surface back in where our OEM wheels started due to the wider mounting surfaces and wheel differences with the later ('05+) wheels. Pretty much the same forces applied as with original wheels.
Using wheel spacers to push the wheels and tires out to get the ever popular "stanced" look will apply more forces onto the wheel bearings than was designed.

That makes sense.

Wheel Spacers

So ordered 2 1/8 Borla spacers. This alleviates having to file the studs down. Was told the front studs were slightly longer so I just ordered same size for front and rear. I personally am comfortable with hub centric spacers.

I ordered them from motor sports tech. Lenny is the owner and told me 2 inch would have to be ground(?) (grinded) stud material taken off. Studs are longer in the front so I requested all 4 be the same. BORA spacers are built as requested so it will be another week or so before I get em.

I have had 2" spacers on my truck for 3 years. Hasn't caused any problems yet.

I second the OK... I have had 2" spacers all around to allow 35" tires with a 2" leveling for five years / 50k miles now. No problems. Buy quality units. The rear was NOT able to take hubcentric due to the floater hubs.

There are too many urban legends about these things. Nobody's gonna run an X as hard as a 'vette. Although I did have mine to a c-note one time. I didn't know we had rev limiters on these. -
