PMF weld on traction bars

Just got mine last week. They look awesome and are really well made...I was surprised how heavy duty they were when i opened the box. If anyone has the weld on version that gets welded to the axle tube could you please post a picture of the location where you welded the bracket? I want to make sure I am welding it in the correct location.

The only person I know with PMF bars is @SRBF150

Philip, if you would be interested in posting some pictures of how to install the PMF bars and do a bit of a write-up, I would be inclined to include them into the 7.3L PSD Tech Folder.

We only had a write-up for the OUO bars for a long time, but have recently added the Pro-Comp bars too! Having a write-up on the PMF would round the subject out nicely, if you have the time and desire of course.

Either way, we look forward to your thoughts on the install and performance gains.

can you post a link to the bar you purchased ?
seems to me yours is missing the shackle on the frame end to keep it from binding.

from the PMF site.

Yes I have the PMF set up, but I opted for the bolt on version in case my rear end exploded or was damaged it would be simpler to swap to the new one. The bars do a very good job of stopping axle wrap and transmitting power to the ground even when towing extremely heavy loads. If you have air bags or plan on getting them in the future get the PMF weld on version or get their added air bag platform when they make them for you, it'll save you a heck of a lot of fabrication time and money.

Here are some pictures of my install. Overall the kit was pretty good. I was missing a few pieces of hardware and the balistic joints that have grease fittings are not taking grease properly....hopefully getting that resolved soon. I cut my rear axle mounts down about 7/8" to make them shorter so they didn't extend lower than the pumpkin. The truck does feel like its on rails which is pretty incredible. I installed this kit as a solution to axle wrap since I removed a rear leaf spring and added air bags to help create a smoother ride. I was able to match the angle of the driveshaft within a degree or two. The axle brackets and actual bars are best if installed at a 90 degree angle. I was able to get them almost exactly 90. I know its probably unsafe but my redneck drill press was insanely efficient and i was able to drill 5/8" holes in under a minute. I went with 5/8 holes on everything since it was darn near impossible to get the holes to line up just right if I only did 1/2" holes.

I really like your drill press, wish I'd thought of it, drilling through those frame rails is always a challenge even with sharp bits. What size bars are those? They look a bit smaller in diameter than mine but that could be the photos. All in all it looks like a great installation.

I used the same redneck drill press method. Saved a lot of strain and pain on my shoulders. a small 2 ton hydraulic jack was the right tool for the job when I installed my bars.

Great news on the performance gains. I value my traction bars every time I drive the truck especially when towing heavy.
