Have y'all ever thought of lifting the bed up to replace the fuel tank?
Evidently you have never tried to remove bed bolts/nuts that have been there for 40 years....And if I remember right you still have to drop it out from underneath. Then again it might come out the top. It has been a while since I dropped my tank, but I remember for sure that those 4 nuts (for the tank straps) are way easier than any amount of bed bolts.
X2 on taking off the strap bolts VS removing the bed bolts. Incidentally you may have to take a vise grip to one of the side flanges of the new tank and bend it a little to get it to fit between the rails. I had to, it took 5 min's
