Fuel Tank Identification

Hey guys,

I've seen the below pictures with the fuel tank listings, but for the life of me I can't figure out which ones I have/need.

Mine is a 1975 F350 Super Cab Super Camper Special (155" WB, Serial Number X62191).

Based on the lists, it looks like it could be any one of a number of main tanks from 19, 20.1, and 24 gallons. Same for an assortment of different aux. tanks. How do I tell?

Thanks,

For a SuperCab, I'm going to reference 2 recent threads.

And you should have a rear tank of 19gallons, like my original one.

And this other one, you won't like much..

I am equipped with two tanks but my front is out of commission and I'd like to be able to use both if possible.

I see in catalogs and such there are "Crew cab" specific tanks. Just wondering if I need anything special.

Thanks for the reply. When I ran my search I looked for "Fuel Tank". I guess I should have looked for "Gas Tank" as well.

Do you know which model number I should be looking at for the rear tank?

Do you know what I should look for to identify if I am "with ev/em" or "without ev/em"?

I don't know if I need a aux tank or not. I'm going to pull it and take it to local shop to have it cleaned and checked out. It's currently disconnected.

I hope your front tank is reusable.
I'm working to get the fuel tank out of my cab, and I don't know if I can get a front/saddle tank installed, so I went with a 38gallon upgrade to the original 19gallon tank.
Rear Fuel Tank Upgrade 19g to 38g -- OFCC.com
My total cost for the upgrade, tank and sending unit was about $150
It would have been about $20 less if I stuck with a 19 gallon, and I would have been able to use a stock sending unit instead of modifying one to work with the 38 gallon tank.

To identify whether or not you need ev/em (usually called EEC -- Evaporative Emissions Control) you have to look at your original tank and frame. If you have EEC, the top of the tank, you will have a hole in the top/center for the EEC hookup and along the frame there will be a charcoal canister.

The hole will be right here (red circle) with a hard plastic push in EEC valve like object stuck in it.

If you can not figure it out, drain the tank (siphon), drop the tank and measure the amount of what goes fuel wise then measure it again as it comes out.

Thanks. I know what to look for now. The Aux tank is empty, so it shouldn't be to hard to drop it.

It's not a Super Camper Special!

Super Camper Special's were 1973/76 F350 Regular Cabs on the 140" wheelbase. The rear axle was set back further than other F350's.

While the same wheelbase was used on 1977/79's, Ford dropped "Super" after 1976.

D4TZ-9002-G = 1974/77 F100/350 Super Cab 19 gallon mid ship fuel tank without Evaporative Emission.

D4TZ-9002-H = 1974/77 F100/350 Super Cab 19 gallon mid ship with Evaporative Emission.

D5TZ-9002-B & D5TZ-9002-R (replaced by D8TZ-9002-M) .. Aft Axle Fuel Tanks - See parts catalog applications below (include F350 and 1978 - not shown).

The hipoparts.com 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog (100/500) on a C/D was scanned from an early edition (10/79) and has errors and omissions.

I also have the last edition of 10/88 on microfiche that has the correct info.

Ok, good to know. So it's a 1975 F350 Super Cab Camper Special then?

This image the corrected 10/88 version?

Actually you mentioned D5TZ-9002-R, however that only shows for 150s and 250s in '75. I don't see a 350 Super Cab without ev/em listed.

As I said in post 8. Referenced in 10/88 microfiche catalog.
