Water separator. Draining

Hello diesel enthusiasts. I have a 2009 Ford F3 50 with a 6.4 L power stroke. When I open the water separator drain valve I only get a few drops of water and I haven’t done it in like two or three months any ideas why I’m not getting any more water or fuel? Thanks in advance for any help

I would clean it and shock the fuel with some Biokleen. A little fuel needs to be drained out at least monthly to keep it clear and H2O free. I drain about 8oz. weekly.

Take a plastic probe like a straw and poke around up there with the valve open. Sometimes mine takes a little while to flow but always does. You can collect it in a clear mason jar and let it settle overnight to see how your doing. I do my drain every month on the first.

clogged with jel from gold weather.

I had this once on my 6.4 and I used a fluid extractor to suck the jel out.

You can disassemble it but you may need a new oring. Some guys here have had to do it.

It's pretty frail so be careful.
