A few weeks ago I lost reverse and had the tranny rebuilt. Turns out I welded clutch pack. Had a buddy of mine reinstall and tried to drive it. It shifts fine from 1st to 2nd but won't shift any further. The truck threw a code for the range sensor and the OD light was blinking. We replaced the range sensor on the side of the tranny, the code went away and the OD stopped blinking but still no 2-3 shift. We checked all the sensors and plugs on the outside of the tranny those are all good. Transmission guy looked at it and diagnosed it as a solenoid problem. We replaced the solenoids but still no 2-3 shift. No sticking in the valve body either. I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas that we can run down before tearing the whole thing apart again.
Check the torque on the feedbolts. They are located between the valve body and the case. Drop the pan and the valve body and you can check these bolts. They MUST be torqued properly, either too loose or too tight and the trans won't function.
