If I want extra kick I load the Hercules FICM tune and the SRL from Matt over at Gearhead.
That gives more than enough response. Makes the truck take off the line like it was gas powered.
Ow no I wouldn't never do that.
I give it time to learn. On the actually putting it in performance tune, I haven't done it but twice in 8 years. And those where early times owning it. Remember I still have bolts, not studs and have learned enough on this site not to push it. Plus in my world I have plenty of power for whatever I want to do.
This is another little Tid bit.
I have mine set on economy tune now, been that way for awhile. I put in stock here and there when diagnosing a problem.
I have to watch my boost in economy, it will get up there 28...29 sometimes if I really want to get around someone or show off, 30.
I don't like pushing it like that. Stock not much better than 24....25.
Not sure where the economy setting is economic. I get about the same mileage. 😒
You know how much power ($$$) do you want. I have a few looney tunes, gearhead tunes and SCT canned tunes. Some are really fun but at the end of the day I went back to stock with a Jake brake enabled and a Gearhead trans tune. The only other change I am planning is an Atlas 40 maybe. These tunes get expensive when they keep break atuff.

I have studs but don't play with that set of tunes as the diesel goes away like I have a hole in the tank.
Plus I don't trust the former owners work. The word @$$clown comes to mind when I see things that
were done.. I will likely be doing head gaskets next summer and am a but afraid of what I am going to find.
I run Gearhead custom tow tune all the time. It has plenty of power. I have reduced fuel and full fuel tunes by Gearhead too but they are way too much without a built transmission.
I guess my biggest fear is that he used a scotch pad on an angle grinder for cleaning the old gaskets off the head and block.
At least with the other truck the work was done at a shop that had a very good rep for Ford diesel work.

All you can do is pop the tops and take a peek. Lap the decks like Jack shows in his video and assemble.
Don’t look at the cam lobes, that’s what got me where I am now...
The best way to get me to do something is to do what you just did. Tell me not to look. Well if I look and don't like what I see if WILL give me a chance to deal with the bed plate
oil leak I have in this truck. Worst come to worst I will pull the other engine and swap then. Yes I would be putting a 220 K miles engine in place of a 120 K mile engine. However
the 220 K engine runs better. That is part of the reason I wonder/worry about what is hidden. Ready for the real kicker. That engine will start quicker with a 6.0L starter in it and it
runs a lot smoother than the current one does and I ever swapped the injectors already. I will budget a set of heads along with a month of time. That way I will have a rental to use
for all the running around I will need to do. That or I buy myself a little Ranger pickup.
What I saw when I removed the bedplate was the second worst part, I had crank bearings worn to copper in several places. I could have probably slapped it back together and run it another 100k, it ran great but I was already that far..,
Not a problem. I could have put $6-7k in a built transmission and left the engine the way it was and run my hot tune with over 500 horsepower and possibly had a catastrophic failure so I took the full rebuild+ route and will re-gear and build the transmission next year. I think with my custom unlimited tow tune from Gearhead I will be happy with the power.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Get in the line behind my wife, it's all my fault.
