stacks and injectors how much power?
stacks and injectors how much power?
im puttin a stack on my 86 6.9 its got a 2.5 inch exhaust maybe a bit smaller if i run this into a stack will it offer me more power? and if i put injectors on my truck will i need to turn the pump up to get power or will jus adding them give more power and does anyone know where to get quality aftermarket injectors for this truck?
There are lots of places to get good injectors at a good price.
As far as the power thing goes, you might notice a pinch more power from turning up the fuel and going to a bigger exhaust but if your current injectors are fine there is no reason to go to bigger ones. You are not going to realise big gains with this engine until you turbocharge it. Then the bigger exhaust and more fuel will really show gains.

Carter my first idi spoiled me I built true duels out of the exhaust of a big school bus.
I probably had less than twenty dollars in them straight pipes lasted about a month couldn't stand the noise so I put schoolbus mufflers on it.
I never turned the pump up or changed anything except cutting out the soup bowl.
These two slight mods really woke this truck up.

what size was ur exhaust leading into the stacks? mines stock and if it gets too noisy wich idk cause im a muscle car guy and my cuzes diesel is about as loud as u can get if its too noisy il use a hushpower muffler
If you dont have a whole lot of money, it is probably best not to mess with it, but I know what mean and it is hard not to want more power.
A 3 inch exhaust will flow really good for a stock NA motor and you could run that to your stacks. You could just go to 3 inch right at the intersection of your Y-pipe. After that you could open up the intake by removing the "soup bowl". You dont really need larger injectors for an NA motor, the pump will already put out enough fuel to do some good damage to the motor, running without a turbo. I would reccomend that you do not turn your pump up til you get a pyrometer just to be safe. The best thing to do for a naturally aspirated motor is limit restrictions in the intake and exhaust.

I didn't run stacks I went out the back under the bumper.
Those pipes were probably three inch about 6 inches off the manifold no crossover.
These straights actually had a low rumble sweet sound until you got on it when it reached a certain rpm it was like a explosion man it got loud still sounded good but to loud.

what did u use for ur intake? i assume the soup bowl u mentioned is the stock air box rite? i wana replace that but the manifold is not a universal size. and what kind of pyrometer wood u reconmend iv been looking for one and so far they r all for powerstrokes and i also need a gauge mount if u know someone who makes one
The soup bowl is inside the stock filter unit, it looks like an up-side down bowl.
Any pyrometer will work they are not vehicle specific. Just try and get one that has a threaded Probe mount, I have seen ones the you mount in the exhaust pipe with a clamp but they can leak, especially if you have a turbo in mind in the near future.
Someone might be able to help you with a gauge mount, some people have altered Pillar mounts to fit that body style, mine is a 90 and there is a direct fit unit for it.

actually if the soup bowl is un the filter mine MITE be removed not sure tho its in the airbox rite? and i think sunpro makes a universal fit gauge pillar il see if theirs will work and with a pyrometer even if its electric and comes with a box will it still work?
