3200 miles in now. I hand calculate all of my fill ups. My daily work that is primarily town driving is at 12.5. I just did a 400 mile trip this weekend that included 300 miles of hwy and 100 miles of city and calculated 14.5. So what I'm am currently seeing; my town mpg is pretty much the same as my previous 2017 6.2 and I'm 1-2 mpgs better on just highway.

That is impressive. It will be interesting to see if the 6.2 with 10 speeds is better still on hwy. Very little data out yet...

15 mpg!

On Sunday I made a day trip to Redmond OR and back. 295 total miles, 250 of them on the hwy where I went over Santiam Pass. The other 45 miles were driving around town. I drove alone and passed as many cars as needed on the 2 lane trip, so I wasn't driving for optimal mileage. 19.6 gallons used, Hand calculated mileage at 15! I never hand calculated tanks in the 15's with my past 6.2's or the 6.4 hemi I drove for a short time.

Kinda weird because thats almost exactly what I get in my Tremor! I bought a 20 ft light duty PJ trailer to pull atvs around and crap when i dont need to camp in the car hauler and pulling it loaded with one small utv, im guessing 4000lbs max behind truck i got closer to 9.5 driving 77mph. Unloaded trailer on the way back driving a bit faster and 11.2.

That’s awesome! I really thought this would be worse than the 6.2 L because of the increased displacement, but it looks like I may have been wrong. You have larger tires as well, right?

Slightly larger, currently running fairly light Michelin Defenders in the 285/70/17.

It will be interesting to see what the 6.2 and ten speed are returning for mpg. Most of the 6.2 numbers we are seeing are based on the old six speed.

I am going to do a test this weekend on a 400 mile round trip to see if I get any better gas mileage using ethanol-free 90 octane gas. Over the last 1200 miles, I have been averaging 8.5mpg pulling a ~7,000lb TT using 87oct E10. I have had plenty of power so it is not a performance issue. I just want to squeeze out another 60-90 miles out of this undersized tank. I am hoping to get maybe 2mpg better and then it will be a wash financially. I am really testing it prior to a 1000 mile round trip next month to the mountains of NM at around 9,000ft elevation. I will likely try the same thing on another trip in a couple weeks using mid-grade and premium since I will have at least one section of the NM trip with no E0 available. I will post my results.

If you are honestly hoping for a 25% improvement in mpg by switching gasoline, you win my optimist of the month award.

It never hurts to dream. I did get about a 100 mles with a 75%/25% blend of E0/E15. Definitely better mpg but not 25%. Avg 10mpg towing 7,000lbs on relatively flat terrain. Filled back up with E0 so now i will get another 200 mile trip back home in a couple days.

Finished my return trip. After the first 100 miles on ethanol-free I was encouraged as noted above. However, the next 200 miles was very disappointing. I don't think I got any better mpg than with regular unleaded E10. I may try some octane only tests but I am certainly more skeptical now.

When i went from e10 to e85, I definitely saw a difference, but maybe 25% at best, but probably more like 20%. if 75%e reduction = 25% mpg, 10% e reduction should be about 3%mpg.
octane won't make any difference if the engine isn't tuned to use use the higher octane. basically, if ford recommended 91 octane, I would expect a measurable difference between 87 and 91. Being that this is not a high octane recommended engine, you might actually see an insignificant drop in power and efficiency by using higher octane fuel since higher octane fuel effectively burns slower.
