Absolute elevation and elevation “gain” are not the same...

This is true, but if we are talking elevation gain, wouldn't the starting point always be zero? RainDesert stated that he went from 300' to 3000' in elevation gain.
This is probably not worth discussion. He went up and down the pass, at some elevation, and got pretty good gas mileage.

Yes, you are correct. The highest point I traveled was around 4500'. Thanks for clearing that up, I meant my starting and ending elevations of Albany vs Redmond.

so it sounds like the 7.3 is slightly worse than the 6.8. I figured it would have been a bit better.

MPG after break-in

I think I’m more interested in seeing what folks are getting g after break-in. My 6.2 loosened up at around 8k and my mileage got a little better (if I remember correctly).

either way the 7.3 is making a good first impression with regard to available power and efficiency.

Some MPG

I’ve had the truck for a week and the bars on this picture are what I am seeing for mileage, per the computer that is. The 10.4 is not since I got the truck. It’s been a dealer driven truck before I purchased it with 1200’ish miles. So it looks like 15’ish was 4 lane and then it drops to around 11 in city. The bars here are mainly 4 lane and the one is city. It also doesn’t stress on hills I was driving and kept under 2k rpm all the time. This is definitely not scientific, but it’s an idea. I’m setting up the travel trailer tomorrow since it’ll be the new truck and will drive it a little to get the feel of moving from F150 to F250. I’ll reset mph and see what it shows. This a Lariat with 20” sport package and 3.55.

My Tremor mileage

I have a Just a hair over 10200 miles on my 7.3 and I average about 11 and a 1/2 around town and at best 13.5 on the highway driving 80 ish. I am running 5 stars 93 performance tune but my mileage was almost identical before. I love everything about this truck except for towing my 32' enclosed trailer And the small field tank. I average this past weekend on the everyday tow to 8.45 mpg driving 75 and I hair under 8MPG on the heavy tow tune. I will say this driving was a lot of Hill country driving which doesn't help

Good info, thanks! Sounds a lot like what we get from the 6.2L. Do you have 4.30s or 3.73s?

4.30s with tremor. I do want to try a lower valence from a regular bumper just to see if there's any difference. I'm really not happy with how this tows the big trailer but I understand that I'm pulling a brick in the wind. Also it's amazing the difference in mileage the dash gives me If I Stay at 65 or under lol

Took delivery 02/14/20, & by mid May, due to the lock down, she still didn’t have the recommended 1k miles break in to tow. My friend bought a new used boat, 350 miles away, so I offered to make the trip since that would put the truck over 1k miles. The drive to Virginia Beach went a little faster than I should have, 75+ on the I-95 portion. Adaptive cruise works really well. Secondary highways in DE & MD were considerably slower, with some traffic devices and reduced speed limits through towns. Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel was a nice straight run. The dash mpg said we averaged 14.Towing the boat home was like nothing was back there, unlike my old GMC 5.3. Of course, this truck is configured to tow much more weight than this ~ 6,500, but it was a good experience for a first tow after break in. The 10 speed performed beautifully in tow haul mode, downshifting from 10th to 8th, & a couple times to 6th on some hills and bridges to maintain 69-75 mph in cruise. The ride definitely smoothed out with the boat behind us. Sorry, but I forgot to reset the mpg on the way home, but at our final fill up in NJ, the dash read 10.5 average mpg for the 700 mile round trip. Guessing the fuel efficiency will get a little better once the engine is broken in further. No matter, I didn’t buy it to be a Honda Civic. I’m very pleased with the performance of the 7.3 and 10 speed.

First pic is the new old boat towed from Va. Beach. 2nd & 3rd pics are the old boat. Same hulls, but new one is a center console with a diesel.

Thanks Bill. You must own a North Coast 24 with twin inboards? I remembered that about the Shamrock 24 Grand Slam models. Found on the Shamrock Boat Owners club: “the Grand Slam 24 was made by Shamrock only in 1993 and 1994. The molds are from the 1988 to 1990 North Coast 24 designed by Charles Jannace.”

He was the same boat architect who designed the Shamrock 22’ hulls pictured above. The 22 center console with a Yanmar diesel is a 2001. The 22 walk around cuddy is 1992 vintage, has a new Ford 351 with GT 40 heads added. We dropped it off at that boat yard where it’s for sale. I have the same 22’ WA, 1997 Predator model, with a Crusader 350 (cough, GM, cough)

Ours is a twin OB. Love the Charles Jannace hulls, nothing breaks through a New England chop better;
