Yes but you didn't mention having to run cables, wire or air lines to make it work, they cost more and have more issues, and on the trail you have to keep locking and unlocking them, and hope it engages when you want it to. Auto lockers you just have to install and let it work, not much to go wrong.

And this is exactly why I'm waiting for someone to open one up. I've seen enough TFL videos to know that they don't have much of a clue beyond the "informational sheet" they're reading off of, and doing math for fuel economy.

I would be much less critical of the entire Tremor package if it was indeed a Torsen differential, or was available is more off-road capable configurations (shorter than the CCSB).

I’ve got Trutrac in the front of my Ram. It’s a limited slip, that will lock. I think they are great for a road truck, you don’t notice it until you need it. The truck makes about a 1000 hp and has been used for drag racing, pulling and hauling a camper off-road. After years of abuse, still works great. Only issue is, sometimes while off-road, it may be hard to get it to lock if one wheel has not traction os is in the air. If you do a lot of off-roading a locker may work better. I plan on installing a Trutrac in the front of my non Tremor F350 sometime this summer.

how many threads you seen about the rear elocker not working. none that i know of. i would be far more concearned about the vacuum hubs or electric motor on the tcase. reliability seems rock solid on the elockers are far as i can tell

I agree with you, the factory e locker is fine since that is what already comes with. Although I still prefer a auto locker in the rear, the e locker isn't much help for street driving. I was talking about when upgrading a vehicle that didnt come with lockers for off-road use I prefer the simplicity and reliability of auto lockers over selecables.

I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the members here have only used their rear locker once or less. Long term use and a high cycle rate reliability are still unknown AFAIK.

I fall into the 10% then, used my locker quite a bit on the 12 F150. Way more than I thought I would. Really nice for pulling the boat out on a slippery ramp without needing to engage 4x4. Spotty ice conditions in town, off-roading in the hills, driving through ditches. My current rig has the G80 and will take a E-locker over it any day. Like being able to control it when needed.

kinda hard to say. Many people that buy 4wd trucks really don’t need them and don’t want to get them dirty or take a chance of putting a scratch in them. That’s not me. A high clearance 4wd is needed to get into where I deer hunt and into my friends remote cabin. I often use the rear locker to launch and retrieve my boat. When I had a truck with out the rear locker I had to use 4wd to get up slick ramps. Get by most of the time with just the locker on now.

so far the Tremor is working out well for me, it seems more capable on the forest roads where my 2016 Fx4 struggled a bit. I just wish I could have gotten the tremor on the super cab as the crew cab is a little longer and harder to get turned around in tight places.

I guess welcome to the 10%. The actual off-road use segment must be small. When I test drove the Tremor the dealer was a little shocked I was more interested in the trail ride vs highway driving. They kept questioning my desire to go off-road, and I would politely reply if I didn’t want to go off-road why spend the extra $ on the Tremor.

Have you looked in to fitting chains on all 4 for snowy/icy conditions on the trails? The Tremor is very close to the same weight as my current rig and chains on all 4s have really saved my butt on those snowy snotty days where weight is not your friend.

as was stated, if it requires friction modifier it is the junk clutch pack design. I would not worry about it because if you are a hard user it won't work for long anyway! I have been into a few and won't wast my time anymore trying to get them to last. I use my e locker alot and it has saved me at least 2 times in my 12 150 that I got stuck because I forgot to lock it in. Lock it in and backed out with no issues. Once was deep rutted mud and the other was off camber and lost traction with one front and one rear, locked the rear diff and no drama backed right up. I have used it 4 or 5 times on my 2020 while plowing, normally don't use 4x4 just the e locker. We have guessing 30 3/4 and 1/2 tons with no failures with the e locker or transfercase shift motor. The hubs, not so much a bunch of issues. Glad they have overrides on the super duties. Still have way more issues on the 1/2 tons. A e locker front would be perfect as you could decide when you needed it and not. Unfortunately some people are just rock stupid and would get into or cause a accident and sue ford. I am really surprised one of the vehicle manufactures haven't been sued just because they built a vehicle. It is going to happen!!! A very sad state the human so called race has become. Cj

I wonder if it has clutches that tighten up when it slips, similar to how the GM gov lock works or it keeps constant pressure on the clutches like the track lock and most other clutch type limited slips. If it like a normal clutch limited slip that can make for some interesting handling characteristics when driving it the snow and ice.

Put me in the 10% too. My truck has manually operated 4wd. I only leave my hubs locked during our snowy winter season or if I know that I'm going off road and might need 4wd. My E locker rear gets used frequently and often keeps me from having to get out and lock in the hubs.

I don’t think there is room for chains on the front of my tremor. I think chains will work on the rear. I have used chains front and rear on my 16 f250. I haven’t tried to put them on the new truck yet. They will probably have to be lengthened to work.

I will likely be adding a winch to my truck. I have been waiting to see what Ford offers. I don’t really need the winch until fall or early winter.
