Can anyone recognize what this flathead engine came out of?The water pump and oil pan have me puzzled.I was told it is a truck engine.I am thinking 1953 Ford truck or a Mecury?
I thought the early car engines had wide belts. This has narrow belts. Not sure when they switched to narrow belts? 51?
it has mercury water pumps with the spacer brackets . oil pan just looks like standard car pan. Not sure if any mercurys came with those pans?
What does the heads say?

Ive had a merc engine with the 3 bladed fan but I imagine the ford cars also could have used the same 3 blade fans? That and anything could have been swapped around .
The water pumps say merc, but until the stroke is measured and find a 4 incher its a 239 ford dressed like a merc, it wouldn't be from a 53 pickup, they used the same car water pumps.
I think '51 Merc's went to narrow belts, and Ford cars in '52, not sure. Looking at it again, those spacers on the mounts could be to adapt it to something else? They look crude. Ford Cars did use 3-blade fans with the integral bearing, I'm running one on my truck (Car engine).
Owner states that it has 8BA on the heads and has a stroke of 3.75.I guess hoping it was a Mercury engine is history.I was wanting to purchase it for a spare for my 1952 F-1.Does anyone know anything about the 8BA engines good or bad?
