I've found with Recon its luck of the draw with their stuff. Their headlights are complete junk. Taillights I've had good luck with, along with 3rd brake lights. I had issues with mirror lights, fender marker lights, and cab lights. My old truck (2008 silverado 3500 dually) i had the full Recon treatment. Everything i sealed really well ahead of time before install knowing they have issues with moisture. Out of everything i had, the headlights were the worst. Horrible light output and impossible to adjust correctly. Had issues with dually marker lights several times, think i went through 4 sets in a 3 year timeframe. Had moisture in cab lights which i had to replace eventually from leaking into my truck (although i never had a light go out). Taillights worked awesome and never had a problem even after i managed to break one (slammed the tailgate with a stick sticking out, snapped off the edge of the light. 3rd brake light i never had issues with either. I also never had luck with their warranty, they never took care of me and always just offered a discount on a new one. So word of advise, make sure to seal everything you install well with silicone.
You want to start with the center light first. Put some painters tape down in the general area where the light will go. I measured back from the windshield gap and marked where the front of the light should go. I then lined up the front of the cardboard template that I made and centered it.
Drill the hole for the plug and only that hole.
I haven’t even made the first payment yet!
Painters tape works well to pick up debris
Note that the side center lights are mounted slightly rearward of the center light. The outside lights are even further back. There's no absolute here as long as the lights mount on a flat surface. The main thing is to make everything uniform, like a mirror image.
I agree that the Recon lights are luck of the draw. I had to have all 5 of the clear lens cab lights replaced because they all retained moisture. So far the replacement set are not condensating inside.
I installed another set on a 2014 F150 last Saturday. Took me just over 3 hours. I tapped into the parking light circuit for power. Not too many F150's with cab clearance lights but that's what he wanted.
Great write up Texas and great results . I am looking to do the same install on my 2019 F250 , your thread is a big help . Do you happen to remember the size of the small and large holes to be drilled in the roof ?

Sorry but I don't. Just make sure the small bit is smaller than the mounting screw. The large hole is 1/2" I think... Just big enough for the harness plug to fit through.

And the finished product! The measurements for light placement are different for a truck with the pano sunroof but with huge help from this thread and another related one, I think it came out great!
Any chance you can share your measurements with the moonroof?
