I have a 2007 Ford f250 4wd with a 6.0 diesel. The automatic transmission is bad. Can I swap in an automatic transmission from a 2008 Ford f250 4wd with a 6.4 diesel?? Thanks in advance for your answers!
Yes, you can. The one problem that I know of is that the number of studs from the converter to the flex plate changed. The 6.0L has six studs, the 6.4L has eight studs. Someone else may know if you can swap flex plates to get around this.
Why are you posting in this thread? A 5R44E transmission is one that was used in a mid 2000s era Ranger equipped with either the four cylinder engine or 3.0L V6 if I recall correctly, completely different animal from the 5R110W referenced by the original poster.
But in answer to your question to regarding your loss of reverse gear, your low-reverse band has likely failed. Those were relatively common to happen on those 5R44E/5R55E transmissions from what I remember.
