Rollbar, I saw that one and I was going to do it, then I remembered all the times I climbed up under the hood in my old Fords and sat on the bag and got a wet ***.
Eric
Now that's funny right there.

Nice! Need under hood shot of the setup/install.
P.S. RockAuto has new switches if one does not want a used one from eBay.
Dave, I can’t say for sure, but I’d guess that location of your switch -as well as the toggle switch itself - to be a previous owners’ handiwork, and not that of either the factory or a dealership. That indent above your ignition switch is the only place I’ve seen them, and it has always been a momentary contact push-button that I’ve seen there, There’s at least one NOS one on eBay now. But anything can work.
The toggle switch with the green indicator light runs to a spotlight at the rear of the bed and it comes in handy as a shop light if involved in a project in the late night. When I was using the truck to commute to work I found a few fellow commuters could be obnoxious with the tailgating, horn, coffee cups tossing so on 1 or 2 occasions I would turn the spotlight on and not hear a peep wherein I would use the first safe turnout to allow him/her to pass, the driver would really have to be a major butthead for me to use the spotlight but it certainly served its purpose. Yes, the spotlight was installed by either the PO or Pacific Gas and Electric who originally owned the truck.

Dave I'm sure that is rude and entirely illegal in most states, and I'm really starting to like you.

Eric probly is illegal and rude but over a period of numerous years only used it twice but can not emphasize enough the tailgater would really have to be a major butthead to get the spotlight blast, it was short but served its purpose.
Dave, I understand your frustration at those kinds of drivers. My solution was to just buy them a cup of coffee - that is, to roll down my window and toss straight up into the air the contents of my 32 oz. travel mug. Peets French roast w/cream and sugar. They would back off a hundred yards and activate their windshield washers, then it was game on . . . but I hated wasting good coffee, so I decided to quit that practice and am somehow still alive today.
Dave and I both drive the same roads. Alot of people consider them racetracks, long and windy through the mountains just to get to a congested freeway. My rear bumper has 8 800 lumens led projector lamps as my back up lights . They work well as a deterrent for tailgaters day or night.

Christmas,
I hope you don't have to put the vehicle in reverse to activate the back up lights..... otherwise, jamming your vehicle into reverse would likely get the person behind you kinda excited too!
