In my opinion, yes they help, can be a pain to install but the serve. I bought this instead of the store bought type, this one fits like a glove (pricey).

Covercraft is, by far, the best sun screen. Very well made and they do a great job of keeping UV and heat out. I have one for my F-150 and it's been great for 8+ years. The first response to this thread is for the Ford branded version. There's also a Carhartt branded version. And then there's just the general Covercraft versions, which are $5-15 cheaper. I haven't bought one for my F-350 yet, because they're $60+ and I have an el-cheapo version that's doing OK for now.
Covercraft all the way. I've always used the $15 cheapo ones in all my cars but bought this on the recommendation for you guys. Bought it off Amazon and had it in 2 days. Love the blue with my blue jeans color.

This is what I use too. Works great and rolls up tight to fit under the rear seat.
I'm considering the Weathertech myself. Does you truck have the sensor mounted right under the rearview mirror? If so, how does the Weathertech sun shade fit around it? Is it a good fit?
I run the Heatshield one on my 17. The cutout for the sensor behind the mirror fits perfectly. Just another option to consider. I'll add that I had an issue with the 'banding' coming off on one of the corners and they shipped me a replacement one no questions asked.
