My 2013 F250 work truck is going to be the winter tow pig soon but doesn't have a brake controller. We have a 2008 F250 parts truck that has a factory brake controller in it. I installed the initial piece that goes in the dash and it powers on but doesn't do anything after that. Is there a second box that goes with it or is it even possible to put one out of a 2008 in a 2013 without heavily modifying the harness? I have the option of stealing the aftermarket one out of the dump truck but would rather just use factory stuff for a clean and uncluttered install.
No, it's using all factory parts from the 2008 truck that had them installed when shipped. I will poke around under the dash of the parts truck and see if I can find a second controller. The upfitter switches were taken from the same 2008 truck and put into my 2013. I also just got FORscan. Hopefully this works because all of our trucks are Fords. 2 are 6.7's(17 and 19), 3 are 6.2's(12, 13, and 15), and the spare/parts trucks are 2008's with the 5.4 3V's. Yes, the parts trucks need timing chains and likely a whole engine.
There is no programming for the TBC. It is plug and play. It is a self contained unit.
you sure? I looked at it a few years ago when I was having issues with my 2006 tbc and recall that a new tbc had to basically be activated after being plugged in
Yes, I am sure. This is not your 2006 but a 2013 truck.
From the 2014 Ford Workshop DVD...If any of the columns were Yes, you need to use the As Built data or save the data (settings) from the old module. Also, the left most column tells you the parameters that can be programmed...
