How To Add Factory Trailer Brake Controller To 2011-2016 XL Super Duty
Added a factory trailer brake controller to a 2016 F-550 XL 6.7. Not a lot of info for this online for Super Duty's as most trucks come equipped with the trailer brakes. Here is what I did using ForScan.
Correct part number
To install, it's easier to remove the entire face. Remove the Sync port and 12v port on driver's side to access two 7mm bolts. Once those are out, start pulling from the bottom releasing the clips then work your way up until all come out. Unplug all the connectors to the associated equipment and set panel aside to add the TBC. Plug will be dummy-plugged behind coin tray you are removing.
You will now need to enable the trailer brakes in the IPC and the ABS modules. Once you enable them, make sure to write it after editing.
