Brake Controller

I have a 2005 Super Duty with the Tow package and need to install a Trailer Brake Controller. I want to use the genuine ford or do they make an after market that will plug into the existing wiring? any information will be helpful. I looked on the official ford parts guy web page but come up empty handed.

Thanks

steve

Get a Prodigy controller. Great unit right out of the box.

Prodigy makes an adapter that is a direct plug in to the wiring harness under the dash.

15 minute install if you take your time.

+1 on the Prodigy.

IMO it's not worth retro-fitting the Ford built-in unit. But it can be done for somewhere between $400-$600. It requires the brake controller, a new brake master cylinder, and a trip to the dealer to have it turned on in the truck PCM. A few guys here have done it, if you search for their threads.

If you do it, and don't already have the upfitters, put those in at the same time. They are easy to do.

+2 on the Prodigy. Works like a champ. I bought the cable that adapts directly from the controller to the plug behind the dash. Install was a snap.
