Touch Screen Locked Up

The touch screen in my 2015 F350 locked up today. I cannot get it to go to the "Home" screen. I can cycle thru the media setting, but cannot access the heat/ac, navigation, settings, or information screens. It's a Sony Premium sound system, running Sync II.The back up camera stopped working about a month ago, I have no idea if this is a separate problem, or if it's all tied together. Any help or suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Sounds like the APIM is on it’s way out or has died.

Common and known issue but you’ll need to take it into your local Ford dealer to verify.

The APIM is the brains of the system and it’s a module that’s attached to the back of the display screen.

GABAR, Any idea what the cost would be on this? Do they just replace the APIM module or the entire touch screen? I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and do the upgrade to Sync III.

Depending on where it’s purchased from, you’ll be looking anywhere between $300.00-$600.00 dollars and unless there’s an actual problem with the screen, it will not be replaced.

The APIM is connected to the screen via a fews screws.

If you’re considering upgrading to SYNC 3, go on the website of Infotainment.com or 4D Tech .com

There you’ll get an idea of what all you’ll need to do the upgrade and afterwards, you can search online for better prices from other sources.

I don’t remember his name but there’s a member on here offering the same items needed for the upgrade at a better price.

GABAR, thanks so much for the info. The screen unlocked itself after sitting over last weekend, but still displays a different song and band than what's playing. Guess I'll live with it for now.

Glad to hear that and hopefully after awhile, everything will go back to normal for your system.

Sync 2 Won't Respond to Touches

I'm having a similar problem with my 2015 F-250 Platinum. A couple of weeks ago, I started the truck and when put in reverse, the camera screen was blank, then a message came up the camera was inoperative and to contact the dealer. When I started driving down the road, the sound system was not working either. When I touched the screen, it would beep, but wouldn't change from the home screen to any other screen (Navigation, Climate, etc). After shutting it off and restarting, everything worked right again. Then today it did the same thing. Does this sound like the APIM problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
John

Pull the fuse or disconnect the battery to give it a hard boot.

Any luck with a fix for you? I am having the exact same issues. Rear cam works occationally, otherwise I get the contact dealer message and my nav screen freezes, gives an audible beep but the screen wont change to what I selected without restarting.
