Steering wheel crooked while going straight after clock spring replacement
Happy new year folks. I finally got my vehicle back after about 3 weeks while waiting on parts. One of the issues fixed was a clock spring replacement in the steering wheel. They test drove it for about 20 miles to make sure the issue had resolved itself, but the tech didn't notice that the steering wheel is now about 10-15 degrees off from being straight up and down where it used to be when going straight. (I don't want to bash him, maybe he was having a rough day) Either way, they are taking it back in tomorrow, but I was wondering if this is an easy fix I can do myself, or do I really need to bring it back in? Thanks for your insight.
On a solid axle truck, that's usually a very simple adjustment on the drag link.
They should have you straightened out in a matter of minutes.
Although being a clock spring repair they wouldn't have touched your front end parts, only removed your steering wheel. They may have to remove and reinstall the steering wheel again to get it right.
Ehh, removing my Lariat wheel and installing the Raptor wheel the steering was off. Cant mess up the install and it's not splined. Adjusted the drag link 1/2 turn and was perfect again.
Thanks for the help guys. I’m having to take it back in tomorrow because the clock spring didn’t fix the issue they hoped it would. The errors came back today (service advance trac, adaptive cruise unavailable, pre collision assist unavailable, hill decent unavailable) I’ve been battling this for over a year. They can’t figure it out! Sounds like they may have to throw another part at it...they can fix the wheel while they are at it.

Isn't there a connection up behind e brake pedal that can cause this issue too?
I’ve heard that too. I looked under there and everything seems well connected. It’s back at the dealer now, so we shall see. I hope they can figure it out. It can’t be duplicated on a consistent basis, so that’s what makes it difficult. I wish there was a recording device ford had that could record every parameter when the error occurs. I have FORScan and pull the error codes when they happen, but it is still hard for them to figure it out.

On that connection, pull it and re-seat it just too see... It should have a lever on it like the PCM connectors do.
