P24A0 DPF Temperature Control Fault Code
I have been having this regen issue each spring since I bought the 2015 F250 used in late 2017. The truck had almost 100,000 miles when I bought it. I purchased a 36,000 mile extended warranty. So the spring things seems to be caused when I do a stop and go 30 mile route to gather sap. I stop 30 times and the truck idles during the time I get out pump the 10 to 40 gallons od sap on the truck, then get in a drive to the next stop sometimes several 100 feet sometimes a few miles. That is about 25 trips of the 30 mile loop from late January to late March. So in my area the ambient temps are in the teens to the 50's. The truck just does not like it and tries to regen sometimes every few miles. Since its a 2015 it doesn't have anything to show the soot % or when its done. I did get the drive to clean once or twice also then take it out on the interstate and r=drive for a couple exits. Never can tell if its happy or not? Till the message comes on that it's cleaning exhaust filter again! Took it to dealer since the engine light came on and the code P24A0 came up. The last time I had it in to the dealer, they said if the light came on again they would need to change the injectors.
Ok So they determined that the injectors needed changed.
Dealer called and said that the truck was still under extended warranty (about 250 miles ) but the warranty folks did not want to pay the $4300 for the repair because Ford did not recognize this as the Ford designated fix for the P24A0 code. Well the dealer and the warranty company worked it out and a week later the truck was done. I have driven it for one of the similar routes but shut the engine off at each stop and did not have the regen light come on yet.
I am not planning to do a delete on this truck. I am not a kid and I dont want a race truck. I want a heavy duty truck that can handle and haul a ton and a quarter of sap, plus haul my goose neck with a 6,000 lb pulling tractor several times a year. I Like the truck but not the regen issues. hope this problem is behind me! I did get to drive a new F250 (The 2019 white one) while my truck was in the shop. it has a 6.2 gas. It did everything I needed. Not sure I will have another diesel when this red truck goes down the road.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
Regards,
Chris
