Alright, as @Wesley Green knows... this week has been warm... until today. Changed my water pump yesterday. Now i got no heater. Read online could be airlocked? Is that a thing? The hoses arent even warm. Been running 2 hrs. Whats the flow direction on those hoses? Ideas?
Did you put the thermostat back in and in correctly? Did you burp the air out of the system, when I did my water pump, I left the truck pointed uphill with the Degas cap off and let the truck idle until it reached operating temperature, The thermostat will open and burp the air out of the system as the coolant circulates. Top to bottom …
Thermostat went in long side down... i didnt even know about burping the system until i started googling this morning. I actially drove it an hour or so, without the cap. But it seems that is what i need to do. So, im going to find a hill, next and see if that will resolve it, without having to start taking hoses loose.
Ok, that didnt work. There is fluid at the top of the radiator, but its warm, not hot. So for one reason or another, the thermostat isnt opening. Or i guess the new pump isnt pumping... heater lines, still just ambient engine bay temp.... may try pulling the return line off, and seein if it will prime
There is a much higher chance of the thermostat being stuck or broke than the pump not pumping. If I were in your situation, I would run the truck up to operating temperature and if that didn't work I would remove the thermostat and put it in a small pot of water with a thermometer in it and bring the water up to a boil until the thermostat opened.
If the thermostat opens when it is supposed to based on the thermometer reading, then you need to start looking at hoses and possible blockage points.
Well. I just verified that the top hose, was indeed air filled. Im chasing kids and such, but my next step i think needs to be getting the system filled. Then, yes, boiling water, etc
Ok. Checked under the hood today. All dry. Air in top radiator hose. Water jug on degas bottle. Filled hose. Leaking around the thermostat housing. So. Planning to get a billet housing, and maybe a 203'stat to replace the oem stuff and then ill fight the air problem. If i do it now... it will just reset overnight. Also. Personal recomend... go buy your own 1 ⅞ inch wrench. The one in the "oem" universal kit from the parts store, is crap
