Thanks guys😁
got the nails out with a vicegrip and a little twist.
Put the cab in the «paintboot» sprayed all bodyparts with epoxy primer.
Got empty of the yellow epoxy......had to finish with a white one.....but it will do....
Took the parts outside the day after, much higher temperature in the sun.....im going to work so the parts can just relaxe and cure for a while.... ( my 84 camaro....i trade it for an old pooltable....the engine had an fire....so i got the car and rebuild it with parts and motor from a donor car I dismantled in Lindenhurst, Long Island NY in 2001 and I shiped the parts to Norway ).
Headlamps, window frames...all ready for paint.still missing 2ea grillbar crome trimstrips.
Still not painted,it was a pain in the neck to get the Yosemite green paint here in Norway...i have all the codes for the M1800 paint....but the profesionals could not make it for me............asked the local paintshop......a guy there said no problems...How much do you need.....😂😂😂😂😂
If you need additional grill bars check with White 66 here on the FTE. He sold his '41 big truck and I think he had some left over grill bars but I'm not positive. Years ago when I had my '40 big truck I bought some NOS ones from Chucks Trucks, https://chuckstrucksllc.com/ He was very helpful so he might be a source or know of one as well. The progress you have made is amazing.
Yes, you really have made a great deal of progress in a short amount of time. Keep up the good work!
Hold out for the Yosemite color; you will be glad you did. (Not that I'm biased; may paint my '36 coupe the same shade.)
Wow, and I thought my little pickup was a project. Now this is a project.
Impressive! Nice job. And I love the history behind it. My neighbour, a retired machinist will get a kick out of this. He’s from Norway. I’ll show him this the next time he stops in.
Fun fact: My grand dads brother imigrated to America in ca1930, joined the US Navy.....i have been told he was at pearl harbour
dec 7,1941.....he was sendt to Burma later, he served on a hospital ship «AH-11 Refugee» i dont know much about him....he lived in Miami.
Happy Day, got my paint. Acrylpaint yosemite green.... Im not a painter... so a little bit testing😁 sprayed the Doors, hood, running boards and some other smallparts... Beautiful green colour... Will go for the fenders before the whole cab i think😁👍🇧🇻🇺🇲
Nice to see the vintage photos when these trucks were new. Unfortunately, too many drivers (soldiers) were also new to the trucks as well.
This lack of experience only contributed to their short life expectancy during the war. Your truck was one of the lucky few.....
Now get one of those good looking, freshly painted pieces out in the sunlight so we can see the real color of that Y. Green.
