Dana 60 Axle question

So I did a gear swap on my truck when I rebuilt it, and I've got an axle seal that just wont quit leaking. I'm thinking I've got a bit of a groove in it. I know that once upon a time there were some axle savers that you could drive on but I cannot locate any now. I did a search and found a place that sells machined sleeves by dimension, but I called them and they were pretty useless on the phone as I was trying to figure out if I could use them. I'd rather find a seal saver than buy a whole new axle, especially since all the axles say "cut to fit" and I don't have a desire to cut an axle or spend $150 if I can just buy a repair sleeve for $20. Anyone know where I can get one?

SKF was where I found the sleeves and you just had to tell them the size. I called them and they were just keyboard punchers. Said something about it only being 1/2 wide... Randy's only has them for the Pinion, not for the axle. I'll look into the others. Thanks!

Q? I really do not know but, does the repair bearing not only relocate the bearing but the seal contact placement as well? I've had to use them in the past and they worked really well

I had a brand new 85 f 250 that leaked oil and I kept trying to fix it a couple times but it kept leaking I finally went in for warranty convinced something was wrong any way it had these bearing lock nuts that clicked and had to be torqued and I was just tighting them by feel ,this is just in case you might have same also sometimes there's enough room to tap seal on deeper or vice versa to contact a new surface

I assume you are working on front Dana 60. national makes all different size Redi-Sleeves. They are different diameters for the size of shaft you need. You would have to make a driver or find a piece of pipe to drive it on deep enough and cover the groove. Then you tear off the flange that is used to drive it on. Just need to measure dia. of axle just beside the groove. they are in different widths according to the size of sleeve. The sizes use a .006 range. Example 1.497 to 1.503 part number 99150 is .375 wide and # 99149 is .563 wide. Picked these two because Dana 60 is supposed to have 1.5 inch axles. But you need to measure.

It's the rear axle. Driving it on was another difficulty I was going to have to work through since the flange wont be very big and that sleeve will be tight. I know I'm going to end up buying a new axle.

There is another option It's call spray welding, they use a torch to attach new metal to the surface are that needs it then they turn it down.I use to have this done when I was a mechanic for a bowling center on motor shafts for the machines.Last way longer than speedi sleeves. I'm sure just about any machine shop can do this for you.

Just to make sure. This is not a full floating rear dana 60? correct? The speedi sleeve will not work on the semi float.
