I would assume the switched circuit would be from the ignition key switch. I don't have anyway to test the ground from the PCM but would again assume if the big lug to the glow plugs is energized the GPR would be good?
Pretty much. It could be weak though and not be passing a lot of amps. You should see your battery voltage drop a little over 1V when the GP's are activated.
Considering how cheap they are, I'd just order a new Stancor Relay, The hours messing with a no start is agravating as hell. But then, I'm one of these old farts that plan to be buried in my truck... ;
That relay turns on everytime you turn the switch... 1000's and 1000's of times over the years. You may have a few glow plugs not working, but truck should still crank if relay is working right.
Check the batteries... remember its a diesel, it really has to spin that motor to crank.
