I have a 1990 Ford F250 XLT Lariat with a 302 and 5 speed and i bought it with the speedometer not working. I first replaced the speedometer gauge and it didnt do anything, replaced the speedo cable twice, and another with my used one from my Bronco (the speedo works on that), and finally the speed sensor and the end of the cable, going onto the tranny. ive driven it for about a year now like this.
I bought a Garmin gps at a thrift store to use in my truck, because the speedometer was erratic.
Then the speedometer started working, smooth as silk and only 3 mph high....….. that's the way things go with me...
Yes, my speedometer used to jump up every once in a while, never past 15 MPH. now it's always at 0. I'm wondering how to check the teeth on the gear without taking the case out.
