One of my all time favorite accessories on a vehicle seems to be completely absent from Ford's new Ranger, the SecureCode Keyless Entry Keypad. My wife recently hit a deer and totaled her car so we've decided to purchase a Ranger to replace it. I found it strange that the majority of the Rangers in stock don't have the Trailer Tow Pkg. There seemed to be more on the XL trim level than the XLT or Lariat. I finally found a Lariat with the trailer tow pkg and FX4 pkg, but NONE of them on their entire lot has the keyless entry keypad. It is awesome for going to the beach and parking nearby, or going to the gym and not having to worry about dropping the keys. It's extremely inexpensive and is listed on the available accessories when ordering a Ranger. In my opinion it should literally be on every single vehicle they sell, yet it's not. I can't figure out why, unless the vendor supplying the parts for this can't produce them or has gone out of business. Any ideas?
A primary reason that I buy Fords is for the keypad; was tired of my wife locking her keys in non-Fords.
That’s interesting that the Ranger doesn’t have it; I thought all Fords had them too.
It's says it's an available option, for about 90 bucks I think, when ordering one. But none of the ones on the dealership's lot (about 90) had it. I can't imagine why it wouldn't if the parts were available. Now, if the supplier couldn't provide what they need and it was going to cause them to shut down production waiting on the parts, that would make sense. And of course you can buy the battery powered wireless ones that stick on the truck, but not my preference.

You can add the OEM outside keypad for about $100.00 from Ford Parts.(See Fairway Ford store on Ebay)
Believe it or not the keypad is a stick on with double sided tape on the door panel, and communicates with the truck wireless like a key fob.
You need the remote keyless entry option factory installed in order for it to work.

I know you can add this type of wireless controller, it operates like the remote does. But I'd prefer the wired keypad, no batteries to replace and so forth. Looks like this will be what we have to do since the truck we bought doesn't have it. 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat FX4 Sport Pkg with Trailer Tow (to get the TT we also had to buy one with the Equipment Group 501A) Hot Pepper Red Metalic ($395.00 charge for some reason) and rectangular running boards (we could have added running boards for a lot less). The frustrating thing about these pkgs is they force you to buy things you don't want/need to get the things you DO want/need. But, my wife loves the truck so I guess that's what matters.
You can just look at the keypad on a Ranger and tell it's a stick-on. It looks like something Fisher Price would have made in 1984. Yet another clue that this is an old truck that Ford rushed to the U.S. market to try and fill a gap.
But, I agree that it's a sweet feature. I loved it on my F-150.
You can unlock your door with a cell phone.
Your spouse can unlock your door with their cell phone from anywhere.
I doubt touchpads are popular with the younger generations, just like NAV , Android Auto is the choice with many these days. https://www.techradar.com/news/car-t...ne-app-1309211

Interesting thought and you may well be right. But they offer it as an accessory and it's cheap. It just seems strange that they wouldn't include it on any they order or that the manufacturer ships them when they are on almost every other truck around. The touch pads are awesome for times when you don't want to have your phone or key on your person, but with the younger generation maybe that's never.
This add-on, part KB3Z-14A626-B says "For Vehicles With Factory Remote Start". I put one on my 2012 Focus and it worked fine. It did not have remote start. Is it really required on the Ranger?

Never mind, the one for the non-remote start trucks is KB3Z-14A626-A. But you need the dealership to program it.
