I'm sure I've seen some of yall on the excursion side, the 99-03 7.3 side, or the 6.4 side of the forum. Now I'm on the OBS side too! I picked up this gem the other day. Dont know a whole lot about it, but itll get there! Previous owner started injector cups, decided he didnt want to finish it, and buttoned it back up. It has an exceptionally straight body, the only rust spot is on the front fender. Has aluminum wheels, gooseneck and 5th wheel rails, and air helper springs. The interior is a little dirty, but should clean up nice since theres no tears in the fabric or cracks in the dash. It does have a stack and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I guess we will see how she sounds when she fires up. I'm really looking forward to working on this sucker and getting her back on the road.
Nice! Just like my '97 I had a few years back. I am looking forward to what you do to it! Does it run or do you have to finish the cup job? And side note, this era RARELY need cups. I wonder if he misdiagnosed it? Did he tell you what led him to digging into it that deep?

I have to finish the cup job. The injectors and glow plugs are laying in the back seat. I asked why he thought it was cups and he said it had diesel in the coolant. I didnt ask any leading questions to help him get to that either. I wanted to hear it all from him. The radiator does have a bunch of diesel in it
He took a few rockers off to get his cup removal tool to fit, so I'm going to replace the pushrods while I have it open. Figure it cant hurt for a hundred bucks. Ordered all new cups, the loctite o rings glow plugs and push rods. Hopefully that'll be all the parts I need.
Add some 910 comp valve springs and shim them to correct height, might as well. And welcome to the OBS side
Trying to get her buttoned up on a budget. Not sure if/how she runs. Previous owner was adamant that it ran well, but he was nervous about the diesel in the coolant so he started working on it. Hope he is right!
It's not too hard to get back under the VC so before I go adding much more power I'll definitely upgrade the valve springs.
Started working on her today. Took an inventory of the parts that came with it and tried to get a handle on where I'm at, and where to go. I got the valve covers off and cleaned up the injector cup holes. all the old sealant is out and the drivers side is read . Just have to do the passenger.
found a wiring nightmare from some aftermarket electric fans that needs to be sorted out, as well as a yellow wire that runs to the valve cover harness. Not sure why it's there, but I dont like it. It's missing 1 injector oil spout bolt but I already ordered a new on .
Looks like you have your work cut out for you. Keep us updated if you find out what the extra wiring is. Truck has a lot of potential. It's the white version if my '97 I sold a few years back.

Most definitely. I'm excited to see it run. My cups and push rods should be here monday so hopefully itll be on the road by next weekend.
Only things I'm not real sure about are the few metal brackets that I found with everything. I'm assuming they co on valve cover studs somewhere just not sure where
