2011 E350 Upfitter switches and brake controller install.
Can anyone offer any information on completing the above mentioned task. I'm finding different information.
I'm looking for the the correct part numbers and does the upfitter switches for a 2011 require the relay pack or did Ford begin to install them in all the vehicles to where you just need to add the switches. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
I bought the switches for my 2011 E250 but now I’m trying to figure out what harness I need everything I look up only gives me information about a Superduty
This is the Motorcraft part number
I read an article that after 2010 Ford already installed the wire harness and relay box for the upfitter switches so they should be plug and play now. The relay box for the F-series is normally behind the glovebox. I'll have to look in the van.
My info is for 2008-10 superduty F-series. Since the E-series was based on that from 08-13, it should be similar. Brake control requires a seperate module. Some trucks had it without the actual brake switch. The upfitter switch relay is behind the panel on the drivers side of the side of the dash. You have to have the door open. If it didnt have the switches, it wont have the relays. All main harness connectors are there already. The accessories just plug right in.
I pulled my upfitter relay pack and harness from a JY truck. Where that harness plugged in was clear at the top of the dash, in the center, behind the heater ducts and radio. I had to cut the dash to get my hands in there. When I went to plug it into my truck (08 F350XL) I found the main harness connector just above the accelerator pedal assembly. Super easy to get to. It usually has a dummy plug in it to protect the terminals.
This is the F-series relay pack
This is the main harness connection. It's a gray connector, behind a dash brace. (Upper center of pic) the blue butt connector is the ground wire. The only one you have to wire up yourself, if you cut it removing it. Otherwise it's a ring terminal, screwed to the dash supports.
