Factory Brake Controller Harness?

Hi. I will be putting a brake controller in my truck. I have a 2006 F-150 Lariat. I was wondering if anyone has any idea or have some resources available to them to let me know if my truck is already wired up for a brake controller or not.

Thanks in advance!

The harness plug in is under the drivers side dash its a grey connector its around where the OBDII plug is you will see it. The harness pigtail you need would have been in the glovebox when new. But if not go buy a new one from ford its about 23.00.

If its (electric brakes) never been used in your truck, you'll be missing a relay too.
The controller wiring pigtail that originally would have been in your glove box (iirc) should have a relay enclosed with it too.- This relay (iirc) should go into a pwr distrib. box under the hood.

It all comes down to what you will be towing, and whether or not the trailer has brakes on it. If it is just a small trailer without brakes, all you will need is the hitch assembly and the 4-pin or the 6-blade plug for your various lights.

Don't overlook aftermarket. When I bought my Hopkins Agility controller, I also purchased their custom-fit pigtail for less than Ford's price. Best part, no splicing of wires. Plugs into the connector on the brake controller, then into the brake connector under the dash.

Just google etrailer, go to the website, enter your vehicle information, and it will show you what you need too perform a plug-and-play installation. There are other sites which offer the same services and parts. Just do a little searching.

Most Tractor Supply Company (TSC) stores also carry Hopkins products, and should have everything you need if you choose to go that route.
