Quick Random Misfire guidance needed.
Going to look at a 1995 E-150 today. It has a very high mileage (around 400k)4.9L engine in it but the owner just put a new transmission in it I want to pull it and put it in my 1986 F-150.
According to the owner at the time or after the transmission was replaced the van started having a random misfire.
Computer starter and distributer has also been replaced.
Owner wants $1000 for it, the new transmission alone is worth that.
I have a scanner plan on double checking codes.
Any ideas? Maybe it's shudder given by a bad transmission install/tq converter.

Ok checked it yesterday , first time using an obd-I scanner but think I did it right. Unit pulled no trouble codes.
Owner says it drives fine but randomly it will shutter like.it wants to die. Not sure it's a misfire, odometer does have 302k miles on it.
He almost made it sound like it happens when he comes to a specific stop.
