Saying hello

Hey fellas

Just thought I would drop in and say Hi. Also a big thanks you for the info on this forum..
My names Mike. I'm from Australia. . Recently purchased an 04 F250 7.3L
It's got 270000kms on the clock. Or 167000 miles whichever you prefer.
Banks exhaust
Bit of a lift on MT rims and 35" tyres
Airbag helper springs
410L fuel capacity (108 gallons)
ARB steel winch bar with 7.2hp 12000lb winch
3rd battery in tray
Electric front seats from a Lariat the prev owner installed
Beefed up tranny with billet torque converter, tug kit and a few other bits
Larger tranny cooler
Fairly decent stereo instead of the crappy factory one
Probably other stuff I have missed.

All in all it seems to me a solid truck. It come with an Edge Evolution 15000 tuner which I haven't played with yet. Not sure if I should or not.
I bought an Obdlink mx+ and tried that out this morning with Torque Pro. I forgot to log anything and only had a couple of gauges set up. HPOP went up to about 2850 when I sunk my boot into it. MAP maxed out and about 15. Not sure if that was right or not or even if I have it configured right..
Got to get my head round it so I can base line what's in good health and what's in need of attention.

Cheers
Mike

Thanks guys. Here is a better pic of the front.
Yeah the bumper is gonna come in handy if one of them stupid bouncy things (Roo) run out in front of me. They love to dart out at the last minute.
It's my daily drive as well as towing an enclosed gooseneck toy hauler when need be. Need to modify the rear headache bar which will be done in the coming weeks.
Plans as far as looks are concerned are just tidy up some blemishes in the paint which is to be expected at this age. Maybe update the lights at a later date. There is no rust in it so that's not a drama. Pretty clean underneath too.

Would love to put a T4 kit on it and some kind of induction system. Not overly keen on the 6637 though.
But first I just want to make sure the engine is in pretty good health before I start ordering from the states so if I need to add or replace anything I can do it all at once

Look into the KC300x kits before buying a T4. Easier install, way less $ and very similar power output.

Good lookin truck, I like the black on grey.

Not the cleanest cowl hood I've ever seen, and obviously useless on a 7.3 truck.

6337 is noisy, but not terrible.

The T4 turbo system is unmatched when mated to the 7.3L. Install is easy and only involves bolt on parts. The 6637 is NOT loud with a Borg Warner SXE turbo. The open air 6637 on my truck with the SXE is quieter than the AIS was with a billet wheel GTP38 turbo.

Some light reading material for you in the link below if you have a cold beverage and some time.

Welcome, it is always nice to see a 7.3L, especially when they are newer than 2003.

I will admit the cowl was not my cup of tea when I bought it but it has grown on me for some reason. Functionality is definitely zero though.
Did think about the kc300 but decided against it due to the fact I will have to replace my stock up pipes sooner rather than later so I'm almost at the same cost as a T4.
Also can get parts here off the shelf for a T4 where as I can't really for the stock one unless I wanna pay a small fortune.
Cheers Sous I have read through some of the threads already you have created on the subject. The 7.3 was continued over here til 06 then it was dropped. Whereas you guys got the 6.0 in 03. They still command premium money over here. Great for resale. Not so much when you wanna buy one

Welcome to the Brotherhood of 7.3 Mike!

Post up a pic of the engine bay so we get an idea of any mods there. Truck looks like premium hardware, you did well to acquire it.

Do the T4 if you can. We CA schmos are denied this upgrade.

From what I can gather it's all pretty standard. Don't mind the duct tape. Story is the prev owner heard of them cracking and put it on there as a precaution to stop it. It's now baked on and only coming off in bits. There was a k and n filter in it at some point but has been removed.
I think there may be a BD boost fooler and wastegate tube in there too but i cant be sure.
Gonna order a new header tank as I think this ones probably past it's used by date.
Need to trace some of the wiring too as some of it looks redundant. If any of you see any other issues let me know
Or what I should be checking in torque

Welcome to FTE, Mike!

I have a question, though.

I can't find any info on 7.3's in the '04 year models. According to Wiki-, Ford stopped all 7.3L production n the second quarter of 2003, and all 7.3's were only available through the 2003 year models while Ford was ramping up production and implementation of the repalcement 6.0L engine.

Typo? Transplant?

Is that cowl hood even functional? Not a fan at all if it isn't. Otherwise I like those wheels and the truck color.
