Coolant question /Type

I always keep extra fluids in my tool box when I travel. I picked up a gallon of coolant at the dealer for my truck along with spare filters etc. the coolant they gave me at dealer is ORANGE....... under the hood, my coolant is GREEN. Which is the correct part number to pick up some green? Thanks !!! Why would dealer computer call for orange ?

Looks like I need the DY motor craft YELLOW coolant. Found an old thread where it talked about the switch from orange to yellow. It’s bright green from factory but it’s probably technically the yellow stuff. So I will pick up some yellow. Thanks !

Yeah you need the yellow it's better than the orange because it doesn't need to be tested for nitrates or need additives like the orange coolant does.

just consult your owners manual and then match the book with the bottle.

Owners manual does not mention anything about it. Looked several times before posting on here. Lol.

interesting, under fluids or specifications where you would see the type of oil and such for the truck. This information was not there?

Gotta love how Ford doesn't update their documentation. This is from the 2019 6.7l owners manual. Other on this forum have reported the newer 6.7l use yellow coolant.

Yellow coolant launched in 2018, info at 1:40

it lists the coolant for the gas engines only. It does show fluid capacities for the 6.7 diesel but not coolant type. Says to use the Orange one for gassers. Frustrating.

Looks like it was somewhat of a mid year build switch, which is why it may not be updated to reflect in the owners manual. I remember years ago when the 6.7 was still fairly new the local Ford house put on a class for the new engines for local mechanic shops and it was stated that the new orange coolant is the best thing since sliced bread, so I can only imagine how amazing the new yellow stuff is

When we picked up our 2019 F-350 (In October 2018) the documentation included an updated card that called out the new coolant (Yellow). The printed owners manual still showed the old spec for coolant (Orange).
