Hello can someone help please!!! I have a 05 F250 with 6.0 powerstroke engine. When cold the engine start and run fine but once hot and i stop the engine i cannot start it anymore until it get cold. This started after i changed an injector on the passenger side.I have checked the injectors no leak,Changed stand pipe and dummy plug with the upgrade ones still no start when hot.On IDS when engine is hot and before i stop it in order to restart IPR shows 84.76% ICP volt-0.9, ICP prs-502psi.
Can someone please tell me what to do.Thanks
Yes AL that is it.This is how it started.I changed an injector on the passenger side when finished i started the engine it was ok but when i stopped it and wanted to start itagain it result in a no start. The next day morning the engine started fine but when it warmed up and i stoped it in order to start again it result to a no start.
Like any oil leak - it can start to leak suddenly or it can be a slowly progressive thing.
An air test of the high pressure oil system is the proper response to a hot no-start. Since you have done the standpipes and dummy plugs, the STC fitting is the next most likely issue ... but do the air test.
IMO the best way is to buy the fitting that installs in place of the IPR valve. That takes a bad IPR valve out of the equation and it gives you an opportunity to inspect the IPR valve before doing any more work.
All that stuff can be found in the Tech Folder thread on troubleshooting a no-start condition.
DieselTechRon has great videos on air testing and hot no-start troubleshooting. Links to those videos are in the thread.
The reason I asked is that I had a "stalling and hard start when hot" that turned out to be a plugged oil cooler. The oil was getting so hot it had lost its viscosity and the pump couldn't build or maintain pressure. It would help to know how hot it is at the point the truck doesn't start, as in an actual temp reading, not what the factory gauge shows.
