One project this winter will be replacing the windshield in the 77. It has Carlite SunX. Is an OEM Carlite SunX windshield still available? I'd like to replace it and maintain original appearance/tint if possible.
Thanks

Windshield is the same 1967/72 F100/750, 1973/79 F100/880, 1978/79 Bronco. All three, clear, tinted and sun band are available from auto glass shops.
The TWO different 1967/72 weatherstrips are different than 1973/79, and there are THREE different types of these.
1977's before serial number O80,001 with stainless steel windshield reveal mouldings use a different w/strip than the from serial number O80,001 one piece flexible plastic chrome windshield reveal moulding.
1973/79's without windshield reveal mouldings use a unique weatherstrip.
I'm looking at putting a windshield in my '77, but all the shops around me want to out in either PGW glass or KYG.
The KYG is okayish looking and fits a bit better from what I've seen on my other projects, but the PGW is junk. It's wavy when you look across it and doesn't seem to fit quite as well.
I'll keep digging around as well, because I'd really like an OEM windshield for this thing.
I just had a tinted Carlite put in my high boy. for what it's worth is just like the other brands was made in Mexico and my guess is they all are the same manufacturer. I'm not sure the Carlite stamp was worth an extra $100.

Thanks 440 and all others for the replies. I guess my main concern is I am after a tint that looks same as original and it sounds like your experience is that non Carlite glass matches. I have ran into problems in other auto restoration where new replacement glass tint is different than stock.
I don't think you can buy a correctly tinted windshield for any older vehicle anymore. not even a six figure mopar.
All the new ones I've seen have the band at the top and a general tint below it. the originals faded from dark to tinted and often had more of a green cast to the glass.
there are just lots of things we have to settle on and i'm afraid this is one of them.
I just installed a pgw in my highboy when I ordered it there where options on color. I went with green I think it has the darker blue tint across the top. Is it as nice as oe glass probably not. Still a hundred times better than old pitted glass. My pgw glass fit good and for $70 bucks I can’t complain. I install lots of glass in work trucks newer Chevys and fords and pilkington and pgw windshield are 10lbs lighter than oe stuff.
