After passing my 2013 FX2's 5th birthday, the battery was showing signs of giving up. I replaced it with an AGM style battery and everything seemed fine. Now I read that if you replace a Flooded Cell type battery with an AGM type, you should have your computer reset so the alternator doesn't overcharge and kill the new battery. Has anyone done this? Is this something I should be concerned about?
Zaphod, check your owner's manual? Where are you getting the info? It isn't unusual for higher end vehicles to require scan tool jiggery-pokery when replacing the battery. As a battery ages the internal resistance might change some, I dunno. Follow the re-learn procedures exactly as outlined in the manual.
After you let it sit for 8 hours untouched the BMS goes by voltage needed then shuts off the alternator so it should not over charge it.
1 More reason I love my 6.2, no BMS and I still have a power steering pump.
Like I said, everything seems to be working ok but according to battery sources, the AGM batteries don't like high amperage charging and you can shorten their life if the system doesn't adjust for the battery type. You aren't suppose to use your old, tried and true battery charger with them ether. I'll check with Ford when I call them to find out why I haven't recived the transmission recall notice yet. I'm on the list according to the NHTSA website.
I put AGM’s in three vehicles two years ago - a 2006, 2011, and 2013 Ford. Didn’t do anything special - just hooked them up; no issues.
traded in the 2006 and 2013 for two 2019 Fords this Spring and kept the AGM’s and put them in the 2019’s - also just hooked them up; no issues there either

What sources?
Not trying to take apart your claim, just curious who is saying this to gain context for the claim, to answer the question at-hand in this thread, and to better understand AGM batteries in general.
