I am trying to decide whether to get 22x12 wheels with nitto 420s (305/45r22), or whether to get 20x12s with 33 inch all terrains. The 22x12 option are american force wheels with street tires, or the 20x12 gear big blocks with a meatier tire. I am looking for advice on what to go with. The wheels/tires will only be run during the summer, and they are the same price. I will be running a 2.5 inch level kit, so what will fit better, and function better? Any advice is appreciated. my tires are not quite that wide, but 20 inch gives a good side wall thickness for bumps and road problems... get to the 22 inch and you loose a lot of sidewall FLEX and can put more load on the rim edges.
I agree with steve(ILL), I prefer to have the higher profile tire, In my opinion low profile tires on a 4wd are asking for trouble(bent/cracked rim/rock or stone between tire bead and rim) and just don't look right...but that's just my opinion.
And the ride quality is def better with the tires with more sidewall height plus you retain payload capacity.
Wheels that have too much positive or negative offset can cause steering ,control ,wheel bearing problems and tire wear problems
Yes a tire/wheel dealer may sell them to you and they will fit on your truck but what are the consequences.
I had considered wheel spacers at one time but after researching the impact them may have on my wheel bearings/tire wear I decided against them.
