Hey everyone, so i was driving my 2006 f250 with 119450 miles home from work yesterday and was coming up to a red light. I started to slow down and then the light turned green so I started to accelerate and i did for a few seconds and then all the sudden i heard and felt a loud clunk from somewhere underneath, then when I tried to accelerate the rpms went up and had no forward power. when i got off the main road i put the truck in park which it seemed like it went into with no problems, and then tried to go into reverse and it felt like it was trying to engage but no go, same thing with going into drive. the only code that came up for it is P0730 Gear Ratio incorrect. Anyone have any suggestions.
hey Mark thanks for the reply and Sorry if my answer sounded short. I had a kazillion kids at my house getting ready for trick or treating. So the truck does hold in park and it is a 4X4. do you have some suggestions. I don't know anything about transmissions. A person at a tranny shop that I talked to said that something probably broke inside the tranny. Could it be that something in broke the transfer case and not the tranny?
No, it cannot be the transfer case. That's why I asked if it is a 4x4 and if park holds. If park did not hold it would be the transfer case. But since park works it shows that the transfer case is fine and the transmission broke.
Would a pressure test from the Trans port give some clues?I know what mind did when the Coast Clutch broke on me that time.
When I scanned the truck I don't recall what DTC I might of had if I had any at all.
Mark pointed me in the direction I needed to find this failure. I ended up replacing the transmission with a Ford reman transmission.
I kept the transmission and sent in a core I picked up at a local yard so I could take this one apart and see what failed.
