If you look at the pics of this one on eBay you might see the red connector on the drivers side of the tower. That was what they used to provide the ground path for the backup lights when you shift to reverse. Simple swap if you find one reasonably priced.
The PO had already installed one of these on my truck. It was in poor condition so I ordered a new one from LMC with a new gasket. I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be equal in quality to the original Ford part. The only difference the glass lens says LMC on it instead of FORD. I have a C6 trans so it was easy to wire it into the circuit but I did add a switch so it could be turned on at any time. ^ This is the optional cargo lamp used on 1967/79 F100/350. It's the same as 1964/65 Thunderbird backup lamp.
T-Birds have two of these, right/left is the same, located below the tail lamps on the valance panel.
