My truck is a 69 F250 Camper Special. I am installing some Led tail lights on my camper and i am having issues. Im hoping someone can help.
I went with the existing tail light wiring that is functioning properly and new tail lights work fine until i turn the head lights on. When the head lights are on the left signal does not work. since the wires are spliced into the existing wires, the chance for error is slim. i ordered another set of lights and had the same result. Any ideas what the problem could be?
I checked the lights on a spare battery i have.
Black is ground.
White is brake/signal (brighter).
Red is lights.
Thanks for your help
Yes, I checked them on spare battery. i did tap into the old ground wire to the other left tail light. I guess ill run a jump wire directly to the negative battery terminal just to rule that out.
So I reread your original post again. The old lights worked fine> Just the left LED turn signal won't function with the headlights on? It works fine without the headlights? What is it doing? Only the parking light stays lit, no flash of turn signal? The right side works fine?
LED stuff can be tricky sometimes. Have you replaced your flasher relay with a new electronic version? The old style takes a required amount of "load"(resistance from bulbs) to work correctly. Using an LED removes that load and can make it not work right. It's a stretch, but I'm trying to think of any reason why the change to LED would cause it to not work. Only on one side....... .Strange.
