The chime in my truck is stuck on continuously. Door open, door closed, key in, key out... does not matter. The only way I can get it to shut off is by pulling the fuse which also kills the instrument cluster (starting the truck also turns it off.) An intermittent door ajar indication is also another issue- I’m guessing they’re related. Anyone know where the ground is for these things or anything else I can check. I have been dealing with this for a couple of weeks now but it is so bad now it’s killing my battery. I’m at my wits end with this truck. Help please!
The chime comes on when the key grounds the connection I think. I broke that one wire off the ignition switch by accident and liked it not chiming, so I taped it so it won't contact anything and ground out. I recall it having a black chunk of plastic on the end of that wire. Sorry it's not a great description but try pulling the ignition switch cover and see what you find.
There's a connector under the dash that controls it. Someone had disconnected mine. I found the lose ends and plugged them back in and now it chimes all the time when the door is open, whether the key is in the ignition or not. Wish I could describe it, but it's been awhile. IIRC, it was up near the brake pedal.
Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned that I disabled the “key in, door open” chime a while ago by taping the contact up near the key. So I’m inclined to believe the chiming is from something else. Maybe a bad ground or a short but I have no idea where to even begin looking
