So I ordered a Hydra over the weekend from Riffraff. I found out that the trans was built with "Tugger" shift kit I suspect that when I pulled the unknown 6 position tuner out that it is the reason for my slowish shift points. I'm hoping the Hydra will improve the shift points. The trans shifts great when driving around town during most accelation situation but under any load it just seems to take longer then it should for the 1-2. looking for advice on what tunes to load for a basicly stock set-up DD and tow pig.

I installed the Hydra tuner tonight after work. Only had time to install 6 tunes and only got to do a quick test drive around the block. But holy crap what a difference. I installed the stock tune, 65 hp sipper, 65 Sipper w/modified VB, 80 hp DD, and 80 DD w/modified VB. I was thinking I could to some A/B testing between with and without VB tune tomorrow on my way home from work.
I didn't even get to the 80 hp tune, But I can tell you right now the 65 hp w/modified VB tune fixed my transmission shifting issue. With the 65 hp it feel as powerful as my 2004 Dodge TDS dually. I think I wold be happy with a 30 hp sipper w/modified VB.
What is the difference other the HP between the Sipper, DD and Tow tunes?
The shift points are the biggest difference between the sipper, DD, and tow tunes.
Sipper will shift through the gears the quickest.
DD tunes will also be quicker than stock in terms of shifting, but not as quick as fuel sipper.
Tow tunes will hold each gear longer than stock, sipper, or the daily tunes.
Thanks for the replys, I could feel and see on the tach that the W/Modified Valve body tunes made a difference. I have reload the tunes and only installed the tunes with modified valve body. I drove for the first time the 40hp DD and I think that is enough for me as far as HP and it shifts better then the stock tune.
Current tune list installed.

He should continue experimenting until he finds a tune suitable for each of his driving scenarios. Then, remove the unused tunes and be happy that his truck is performing exactly the way he wants.

I'm not going anywhere near the 100+HP tunes I want to put another 200,000 on this motor. I really like the power of the 40 hp DD, But the 65 hp sipper just shifts so much better. I would really love a 40 hp sipper tune. It would be perfect for my DD style. The towing tunes will just have to wait until I get some weight behind this thing. I really like the hi idle mode, I don't do it in the morning but in the afternoon after starting the engine to leave work I bump it to the 1000 rpm for a couple of minutes to warm the motor up.
I'd rather have stock power with perfect shifts than a hot tune with horrible shifts.
I really liked the Hydra canned tunes except for one issue: the torque converter doesn't lock up in 3rd gear. I do have a fully built trans by my local trans builder, so I'm guessing that could be my issue. When I get some free time, I might go to my trans builder and see what he can do. But for now, I'm happy with the custom tunes I'm running.
