Update on '18 5.0 oil consumption

Oil pressure warning systems vary, on most of the 60's models the oil pressure warning light came on when pressure dropped below 5 psi, not a lot of margin between low oil pressure and no oil pressure.
In the 70's on engines like the 351M/400 the low pressure warning came on when pressure dropped below 20 psi so the engine may continue to run fine with the warning light on, but one was taking a risk because you didn't really know if there was oil pressure or not.
I don't know at what point the low oil pressure warning activates on these newer vehicles but I can tell you that when oil pressure drops to zero on any engine regardless of mileage for more than 60 seconds at driving speed, bearing damage has occurred.

I don't know about the oil side, but on fuel side it does go into limp mode at some magical low fuel level. The small gas pump warning light for low fuel was displayed. About 2 miles later it went into limp mode. Took me 1/2 hour to drive the 1.5 miles to the closest gas station.
But most engines will run for some duration but that depends on how worn the bearing clearances are. An older engine with many miles would probably run longer than a new engine that is out of oil.

Wonder if one of the youtube automotive "test" channels would be willing to try this out. Remove oil .5 quart at a time, drive and see what happens. Keep going until warnings lights and see if it will continue to run. Run right up to engine failure.
Would probably get them a decent view count also.
My plan now is to have whatever PCM update becomes available from the new TSB for this issue.

Did they do a consumption test on it before the reflash I brought mine in and they said if they don't do one they can't do the flash and my last change and I do mine at 4k intervals I was only 1/2 qt lower but I figured if they did it it would maybe lose none but I left I didn't even get the longer stick ,18 model

I did have all my mileage logged and how much oil it was using (1 quart per 2500). They didn't update or order the dip stick, even though my truck falls in the build date that should be updated. I don't care at all about the dipstick since moving the goal lines does nothing for consumption. I think they were just trying to close out the warranty work so they could get paid instead of ordering it.
I attached the TSB if that helps anyone here. Good luck

Had the oil changed in my 18 F-150 and 2500 miles later it was over 2 qrts low, last time it was serviced I checked the oil level before leaving the dealer, it was 1 1/2 qrts low, mechanic said he put in the correct amount but added another qrt leaving it 1/2 qrt low, the stick could be off.
Has anyone changed their oil adding the correct 8.8 qrts and then checked the level to see where it is on the stick?
