Engine removal

I am in an automotive class at school and we have been tasked with removing the engine and transmission I’m a 2007 f-150 with the 5.4 v8. The front end of the car is already completely taken apart and there is nothing left in the way of pulling it strait out of the front. What is the best way to remove both the engine and transmission. I would prefer to remove them as a set. We do have access to lifts and engine hoists but wonder what is the best method. Thanks

Probably the same way they are installed at the factory. After everything attached to the engine and transmission has been disconnected and unbolted the engine probably has the lifting loops that were used to install it. Engine hoist and one or two fellow students to guide things. Lift slightly and pull straight out. Had you not taken the front end apart it would have been more difficult and possibly impossible to pull both as a unit.
