2007 Engine Removal
He says he has to remove the CV joints to get the Engine out.
Is this correct or is the another way.
Please if this is the way we have to do it. Can someone tell me where to find instructions on the removal the the CV Joints.
Also if you are in the Houston area, do you know where we can get an engine?? This is going to be the 2nd one we have had to put in it. My son, who is now on foot has blown 2. We want this fixed for my husband to drive back and forth to work.
Thanks so much for any help or links.
If someone needed to replace/repair the Transaxle ONLY, the transaxle CAN be pulled by itself, leaving the engine in the car, only if the engine is properly supported.
In both cases, the CV half-shafts have to be removed.
The reason the whole thing has to be pulled for engine removal/installation, is there is not enough room to manuever the engine out of the transaxle's torque converter, the body structure is in the way on the passenger side. Also, many FWD cars have a subframe that has to be removed to get the engine out, so the transaxle has to go too.
The 2010 manual verifies this for the 2009-2012 with either 4 or V6, and either the automatic or manual transaxle. I would expect the older powertrain of a 2007 to have the same restrictions (but I don't know for sure).
He really needs at least a Chiltons or some other shop manual for that years range of Escape. Check a parts store for one.
Thank you so much will pass this along.
